Dramatic green mountains of Vale do Paúl in Santo Antão, Cape Verde

Cape Verde · Atlantic Ocean · West Africa

Where green mountains meet the Atlantic.

Real Cabo Verde, from Santo Antão’s dramatic valleys to Sal’s turquoise beaches, Fogo’s volcano, and Mindelo’s music-filled nights.

Plan My Journey
Scroll

Cabo Verde is not one single view. It is cliffside villages in Santo Antão, ferries crossing between islands, volcanic earth in Fogo, music in Mindelo, and warm Atlantic water around Sal and Boa Vista.

More than beaches — ten islands with soul.

EcoCape Verde connects those pieces into one seamless journey — beautiful, local, and rooted in the real rhythm of the islands.

Santo Antão for hikers seeking raw mountain drama. Sal and Boa Vista for endless sand and neon sea. Fogo for the rare traveller willing to sleep inside a caldera. Mindelo for music, culture and the best grogue in the Atlantic.

People & Culture

The soul of Cabo Verde is lived out loud.

Traditional Cape Verde drummers in red and blue uniforms performing in a cobblestone street procession

Music & Tradition

Music, rhythm, and celebration in the streets of Cabo Verde.

Women gathered at a Cape Verdean produce market

Step beyond the resorts into the everyday rhythm of Cabo Verde — busy produce markets, women gathering over fresh food, music echoing through cobblestone streets, and neighborhoods where life still moves slowly and locally.

Markets, villages, real life.

Beyond the beaches, Cape Verde is a place of extraordinary human warmth. Women vendors in Praia negotiate in Kriolu. Fishermen haul nets at dawn on São Vicente. Farmers tend terraced fields that have fed families for five centuries.

We guide you into these moments — not as a tourist, but as a welcomed guest.

Day 3 · Santo Antão — Cova to Paúl Valley

Your real book is built around your dates, pace & islands.
Morning

Start at the Cova crater rim and walk down into the green Paúl Valley — terraced fields, sugarcane, and views to the Atlantic the whole way.

Afternoon

Lunch at a family table in the valley, then a small grogue distillery to taste the local sugarcane spirit before the road down to the coast.

Evening

Sunset in Ponta do Sol and a fresh-fish dinner by the water as the village settles in.

Hidden gem

The cliff path to Fontainhas — a tiny village clinging to the ridge that most visitors never reach.

Where you'll stay

Tienne Del Mar in the Paúl Valley — a seafront base where the valley meets the ocean, walking distance to dinner. See Tienne Del Mar →

Practical note

Arrange an aluguer (shared taxi) for the Cova trailhead the night before; allow ~3–4 hrs for the walk down at an easy pace.

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Fernando — born in Porto Novo, Santo Antão.

My family's roots run deep across these islands — through the Paúl Valley, Cabo da Ribeira, and beyond. I grew up here before moving to the United States to study and build a career in software and technology. EcoCape Verde is where those two worlds meet: the country I know from the inside, and the tools to share it properly.

I started this because the real Cabo Verde — the mountain villages of Santo Antão, the music nights in Mindelo, the volcano nights on Fogo, the family-run kitchens you'd never find in a brochure — almost never makes it into the typical resort trip. Every itinerary here is shaped around that lived knowledge, not a generic template.

EcoCape Verde is 100% Cape Verdean owned and operated. Every recommendation comes from experience, and every booking helps support the local families and guides who make these islands extraordinary.
